I remember also 2 creatures from the books in 33 and 34. I one scene artyom will come to an station that is 1,5m ( i think) under the surface and the entrance is barricated but still open. After talking to locals and falling asleep he wakes up from the sound of a bell. As he stand up and runs toward the entrance a humaniod creature climbing on the walls which left a green slime on hid way and they start to shoot. And in 34 when sasha, homer and hunter come to surface over main station there are a lot of strange things with white skin sleeping under the roof. Sadly neither was included in any games. I'm guessing that "murky" you saw on the wall at that lake was a muskellunge, large predatory freshwater fish common in many waterways throughout eastern North America, concentrated around the great lakes and St. Laurence river. They're basically bigger, nastier relatives of pike, a fish you might be more familiar with. Not known to attack people much, though there have been a very small handful of incidents (3 in the last 20 years). Heres the head cannon. This is a male and female. They are the only pair in the lake. Its clear that someone released them in the lake not knowing what they actually were. Its also possible there were more but either were to weak to take the weather or were eaten by the stronger of the group. Based on Betty Whites words she and her husband were tosding scraps to them meaning they had to be smaller but later on started eating larger pray and were well fed by her on the regular. Having a excellent diet and massive lake this allowed the pair to grow massive. Also its clear that Betty White was still lying as she knew about the babies. Thus she and her husband were more then likely the reason they were there and feeding them for decades. It would surprise me if the couple had places set up to give the crocks a more comfortable area, like keeping parts of the lake warmer in colder weather.

Spiders are cool as hell. The chances of being envenomated by a medically siginificant spider are so small its not even an issue. Yeah, they can absolutely mess you up but there are only a handful of species that can do that.
